It is awkward to return to blogging after a nine-year (!) hiatus. I’m going to pretend it didn’t happen and get straight to the point and that is: photography.
Photography is a hobby that I’ve been always tempted by and in 2019, just before the pandemic, I committed to it more seriously.
In 2025 I joined a challenge organized by a Berlin photo community, The ISO Club. The idea was simple: take one photo with a camera every week and publish it on the club’s Discord server. Life has a tendency of getting in the way, so keeping that streak going turned out to be easier said than done and the final album is full of photos taken hours or even minutes before the weekly deadline at midnight on Sunday.
Forcing yourself to do deliver anything on frequent, regular basis is a great way to practice creativity. In my case, I used this project to go out more with my trusty Canon camera, try new subjects beyond my favorite (birds), and search for beauty in places I would otherwise ignore.
In late December I took the last photo and completed the series. I then made a little website for it so the collection has its own home at photos.szafranek.net/2025.

As I write this post in February of 2026, I’ve been keeping my streak going so who knows, maybe there will be another installment of this project a year from now.
Meanwhile, if you’re a fellow photographer, especially in Berlin or Warsaw, let me know in the comments below. Maybe we can have a photowalk together some time!
